DIVORCE IS NOT THE ANSWER
....................................................

Divorce is not a simple matter and therefore it should not be treated lightly.

When staying married brings more harm than good and a divorce provides the only way of easing the upheaval in the house, then the couple may part, bearing in mind that divorce is the lawful thing that is most detested by Allah.

Allah says,

"………….. retain her on reasonable terms or release her with kindness……."

Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2 : 229

It must be remembered that Islam forbids a wife from asking for a divorce from her husband without reasons that are approved by the Law. Rasulullah s.a.w. said,

Any woman who asks for divorce from her husband without any reason permitted by syara, the sweet smell of paradise shall be forbidden to her."
(Narrated by Abu Daud)

The hadith also applies to a husband who divorces his wife without good reasons, making the wife feel that she has been unfairly treated. It is haram (sinful) for a husband to divorce his wife during her menstrual period, or if he has had sexual intercourse with her during the period she is not menstruating, until her next menstruation.
